We are in some crazy times right now, as you all know that! Just like everyone, our hearts are out there to everyone who is out serving the community and putting themselves and their families at risk by doing so. We have several brides who work in hospitals, and we’ve been making it a point to check in with each of them from time to time to make sure they’re doing okay physically and emotionally. You may be wondering, what the heck does this do with an engagement session post at Hawk Mountain?? Well, Julie is one of our brides fighting that fight! We have quite a few brides who work at the coveted Johns Hopkins Hospital, and she is one of them. So since Julie is a rockstar, we just had to prioritize her session getting on the blog!

Julie and Chad adore hiking in their spare time, so they knew that they wanted to incorporate that into their session! We don’t usually go deep into the woods for sessions, with the acceptation of my little brother’s elopement, which took place in the middle of the woods…thanks bro, for the learning curve! We were 100% up for this and will follow our couples anywhere their hearts are leading them to! They asked us if we had any suggestions for good hiking trails that also make for good light and photo opportunities. We immediately remembered a blog post by OUR WEDDING photographers Janae and Hugo of Janae Rose Photography. Who also did an engagement session at Hawk Mountain (see their blog post here!) So when we sent Julie and Chad the idea, they were all for it!

After a two hour drive and a rigorous hike up, around, and up again the mountain…we had a blast with Julie and Chad! I mean any man or woman who can hike up and over boulders and logs in heels and dress shoes are troopers in our books! The moment we will never forget is at the end of the session, Chad asked us if they could do our lift pose while standing on a boulder at the edge of the mountain…. As we’re always up for anything, safety is always in our minds. So after about a 5 minutes of going back and forth of assessing the risks and conversing with them they still wanted this photo and we all banded together and one mini heart attack later, we got the shot and it was amazing! Julie and Chad, we are so happy our lives have crossed through Instagram, and we had the best time with you both during your engagement session! We are so excited for your wedding this fall at Bohemia Overlook! You two are forever our most adventurous couple, and we love you even more for it!
